David is the Young Advisory Committee representative on the Cambridge Ahead Board. David has been an active member of Cambridge Ahead’s Young Advisory Committee since 2022, with a particular focus on understanding and strengthening young people’s engagement with local decision-making in Cambridge. He is particularly interested in ensuring that young people have a meaningful voice in shaping the future of the city they will inherit.
David is Policy Manager at the Wellcome Sanger Institute, where he helps the institute understand and shape the external environment in which it operates, to maximise opportunities to support Sanger’s scientific mission. Throughout his career, David has worked at the interface of genomics research and public policy, shaping approaches to data sharing, open science, emerging technology governance, and responsible research and innovation. He has a scientific background, with a PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Leeds.
